Gary Struzick on the Journey of Surface Water

West Harris County Regional Water Authority · 25th Anniversary Campaign
A 25th anniversary storytelling campaign documenting the WHCRWA Board Members and Consultants behind one of the region’s largest water infrastructure efforts.
The People Behind the Progress was created as part of WHCRWA’s 25th anniversary communications, giving the Authority a way to document the people, decisions, partnerships and long-term planning behind its regional water supply work.
The video series serves as the centerpiece of the campaign, supported by quote graphics, phased social distribution, individual story pages with transcripts, website archive content and broader 25th anniversary materials.
The campaign follows a structured release schedule, with videos released Mondays and Wednesdays and quote graphics released Tuesdays and Thursdays. Content is scheduled for phased release through October as part of WHCRWA’s 25th anniversary communications.
These examples were selected to show the range of the series: regional water infrastructure, Central Pump Station construction, early Authority history, public education and the consultant team behind WHCRWA.

A segment focused on the magnitude of the Central Pump Station and the role it plays in the regional water system.
A construction perspective on the size and complexity of modern water infrastructure.

A look at the consultant-driven structure behind WHCRWA and the people who help carry out the Authority’s work.
The video series is supported by 88 quote graphics designed for phased social media release throughout the anniversary year. These graphics extend the interview content beyond video while maintaining a consistent 25th anniversary visual identity.
The campaign required a coordinated production schedule, interview setup, branded post-production system and phased content release plan. The structure allowed WHCRWA to preserve long-form institutional history while also creating short-form videos and quote graphics suited for regular public communication.
Because WHCRWA has no staff, the series places particular emphasis on the board members and consultants who carried the Authority’s work forward over the past 25 years.
The video series is part of a larger anniversary communications package, including the 25th anniversary identity, commemorative challenge coins, branded apparel, event materials, web archive content and long-form historical articles being developed for a commemorative publication. The campaign is scheduled to continue through October, culminating in WHCRWA’s 25th anniversary activities and public tours of the Central Pump Station, a major regional water facility that includes the largest freestanding concrete dome water storage tanks in Texas and the second-largest in the nation.
The public WHCRWA series page links to the videos published to date. Each individual post includes the embedded video, a short introduction and an edited transcript for accessibility, readability and long-term reference. The page will continue to be updated as the anniversary campaign rolls out.
